Save time and costs with Managed Custom Domains for Azure API Management

Yes, we wouldn't be TeamValue if we didn't look at The Value first. In this case, it's simple: it saves time and money. And everyone wants that. Anyone who has previously maintained their own domain(s) for API management knows that it took quite some time to link SSL certificates, adjust DNS records and link all the domain names back together again. This always involved a Key Vault as well. Well, if you did not know, we have some news for you: manual updates are no longer necessary. Everything can now be done automatically! How? Through the main API management service in Azure Bicep.  

More possibilities with Azure Bicep with CI/CD

API management manages all the connected APIs for your application. It is, as it were, one big overview. Managing or buying certificates always had to go through trusted parties to get the 'secure internet' attribute. Are you using Azure these days? Then you can connect your secure custom domains for all web apps and services for free in the final step of completing the infrastructure before you release. Every time you roll out a new pipeline through Azure Bicep, you can immediately arrange the connection of a domain and maintain the SSL certificate of the custom domain. The duration of certificates is still one year. But if you release every sprint automatically according to CI/CD, this will no longer be a problem!  

Conclusion: by adding just one building block, you as a Cloud Developer together with Microsoft Azure ensure that this is immediately in place. Small effort, great value. See below.

The Hidden Pearl - Azure & Cloudflare

We use Cloudflare for the hosting of our domain names, caching and security of our websites. The combination of Azure and a hosting other than Cloudflare in this field is nil. The combo Azure with Cloudflare is a hidden gem that is emerging. Cloudflare makes it easy to add DNS records and keeps us alert whenever there is any suspicious activity around linking a domain name or an expired SSL certificate.
