The Role of Azure Developer - In conversation with Joe
Working for RDW and TeamNow
I am currently working on two assignments. One, in collaboration with my colleagues at TeamValue and RDW, I am building an integration platform to receive and send message traffic securely from A to B. This involves many technical challenges, but that's what makes the work fun! We work from the Scrum methodology where I am responsible for setting up the software and infrastructure. In addition, we are constantly investigating how we can make the platform even better.
Continually learning new things
As an Azure Developer, I start my day with a daily-scrum meeting. We discuss the stories and tasks on the schedule and discuss possible bottlenecks that may come our way. After the daily, I start up my work and work on my stories. I call and talk to my colleagues regularly. To spar, but also to learn from them. Because I like to learn new things and want to understand how solutions that have been thought up work.
It goes beyond just bringing knowledge and performing tasks
When I joined RDW's project, it was still a small team. But gradually the team grew and with it the knowledge gap. That was a challenge for us. We wanted to explain our Cloud way of thinking to the team so that they could also implement it themselves. In fact, at TeamValue, we think that behavioral change is very important, and that makes us very unique. We don't just come to bring hands and knowledge, but coach the team in a new way of thinking. Once the new way of thinking had landed, I really had an 'oh yeah' moment. The team's drive to understand and be able to implement the mindset just gave me extra energy. I think that is such a cool thing to see!
In addition to my work at RDW, I also work internally on our own product TeamNow. A game that improves team performance and drives behavioral change. The variety in these two assignments makes my work very diverse and therefore different every day.
The energy here is very motivating
TeamValue is a dynamic, cozy and, above all, very warm-hearted company. We don't call our club of team members 'Ohana' (means family) for nothing. There is a certain kind of energy among our people that is very motivating. That makes me super excited! Here it doesn't matter how crazy your idea is, you can always put it on the table. And the nice thing is that everyone thinks along with you.
Growing in new roles
We have regular learning team nights and feel it is important to obtain certifications within the field. This has helped me grow tremendously over the past 1.5 years. I had never worked in a Scrum team before or taken a lead role in an assignment, but by starting the conversation with the customer, asking a lot of questions and learning from the experiences of my colleagues at TeamValue, I was able to fulfill this role. Curiosity, enthusiasm and drive are the most important qualities to create the best and coolest product.
